My boy Bogey doing some modeling for me with my new lighting setup. This is my first time ever using any type of lighting and I wanted to try out all my new stuff. He was a super good sport about it, however he wanted to stare into the umbrella the whole time. It made him a little uneasy I guess...

There's only one thing better than just staring at a German Shepherd, and that is snuggling up with one. I can't take my eyes off that top photo in Charlie's post directly above. The expression, lighting, and angle is perfect.

I took in a rescue dog in May that is 1/2 GSD and maybe 1/2 Lab(?). He looks a lot like Marmaduke. He's super sweet, and super playful, but he's just not a full-blooded GSD. I see the photos in this thread, and I feel like I have a cheating heart. LOL I guess I am a GSD-snob. There are German Shepherds. All others are just dogs. Hehe.

Someday I'll get another GSD.

Fanta is a bit of a weirdo. From the get go she didnt like to cuddle at all. if you got near her it was shark teeth and rough play. When kids tried to hug her or something she would growl at them. She simply didnt care for too much attention.
Now that she is 2 is a different story. so patience and training paid off. :)

I guess my point is that they are not always so warm and cuddly. If anyone out here is looking to get a GSD pup make sure its from the breeder that knows what they are doing. I thought mine did and I am finding out otherwise.

Panzer is 15 months old now, at least 95 pounds. He needs a vet visit here shortly. But i'd say he is easily 95 pounds.

She was fetching a stick one day and did a nose stand on frozen ground. LOL
She tried to grab it in stride.

What you see here is just a scab that got torn off. its healed now and hopefully the scar will go away eventually.

I've been in a bit of a photography slump for the last few months. Busy at work and around the house. The snow around Colorado has been pitiful, so I haven't been very inspired. Hopefully that changes soon.

Do it, you wont regret it. No home is complete without a GSD:)

Definitely do it but after you do your homework. GSD is not for everybody. You need to find the right breeder first and foremost and go from there.

I thought I had it all figured out (breeder with great dogs) but in retrospect I know I could have chosen better and I feel like I failed my dog by not knowing how to deal with certain issues (even though I know most of it could not be helped).

Love her to death though and she makes for a great model. LOL

Greta's new best friend.

Merlin was a stray that started sleeping on our front verandah just after Christmas. After checking the local area & the local vets we decided to adopt him. he will be an inside cat once he gets used to the house but for now he spends most of his time in our cat run in the back yard. he must have had a dog in his life at some point because he & Greta get on so well together.

Today my puppy, Lola, turned 1. She has been a handful the first year, but she's such a good, loving, playful dog. Anyway, I don't have any birthday pictures, but I have two to share. In the first one, she was about 9 months old. It was taken with my 5D2 and a Sigma 70-200 2.8 (SOOC). The second picture was just taken on my iPhone 4S about a week or two ago. I tweaked the settings with some photo apps for fun.

#2 is lovely, little bit of head movement in the first?

I know I always have to bump up the shutter speed for Greta!

I am not sure, i cant seem to get the focus right on all my pics, it is really frustrating me.
There may have been a little but he was pretty focused

1/400 in the 2nd which looks fine to me considering the high iso. Doesn't take much movement at 160th to upset things;)
