there's some great photos of some great looking dogs. .. We just got one last weekend. .. so here is Eli .. 13 weeks old.
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z246/Donalyn06/09%2010%20Oct%20Eli/sm-9900.jpghttp://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z246/Donalyn06/09%2010%20Oct%20Eli/sm-9889.jpg
re toys:, she has her toy stash. .. a 1" soft cotton rope with knots in each end (her bite/chew/pull toy), a rawhide bone, a ball.. and her favorite is a squeeky lamb. She changes from toy to toy though.. and carries them to her bed when she's not playing with them. She has quickly learned that shoes/slippers/ flesh/socks/trash are not her toys. ... we're still working on 'chasing the cats' though. That's going to be a tough one. .............. also... since you are all GSD people, I'll ask you about her ear. The tip of her left ear flops back. .. it's not broken cartilage.. it's just soft and flops over. Do you guys think it will straighten up? (we're careful not to handle her ears when playing.. so as not to damage the cartilage).

woohoo a GSD thread awesome! You folks have some beautiful animals. I joined here a few years back when I had my first Canon but haven't been around in quite a while since i gave the camera to my daughter and moved on to a dslr of another brand. I remember people here being very friendly compared to some other boards so hopefully it's still the same and I won't be banned for posting a couple of images of my GSD's taken with a camera of another brand. If it is a problem let me know and I'll remove them. I purchased an S90 yesterday so I promise to post some images taken with it in the near future.
The first two are of Austin who passed away from cancer several months ago after being our family pet and my best friend for 9 years. One of him in a serious moment and the second showing his true personality. We couldn't stand not having a dog here in the house after his passing so along came Freida. A serious shot and then her being a goof both at around 6 moa.

I see Nikon shots in the Transportation section all the time, so some non-Canon shots in here should be okay. ;)

Nice shots!
David, you can post pictures taken with other brands. Lots of people do it and post here because the forum is very friendly.
Playm, the floppy ear may stand on it's own or not. Some people will tape their dogs ears in hopes the cartilage will stiffen up in the upright position. What has your vet said about it?
RE: Kong toys. I know some people will fill the Kong's with peanut butter, freeze them, then give them to their dogs. I guess it takes them a really long time to get the peanut butter out.

That is a wonderful composition. I know I am VERY biased toward the breed, but only a GSD can "say" so much without even looking in your direction.
I agree. You can always recognize a German Shepherd :P

I have to ask this. Do any of your GSD's have issues with Jello? Our youngest (Isis) goes into a tizzy when somebody opens a packet of Jello. Yep. Try to make Jello and as soon as her nose picks it up she won't shut-up. She barks, growls, whines and the hair on her back turns into a perfect mohawk.
Very very strange dog...
Jon.

Yep, that's a strange dog. But that's GSDs. They are the quirkiest, craziest dogs around. You gotta love strange if you have a shepherd.

Hey! That's 6 posts with no pictures. What is this, a discussion thread? I'll take care of this! Here's my pup Remy giving me his "attitude" face. He's a big, intimidating dog (100lbs and not yet 9 months old), but he's too sweet to pull it off. He gives you this mean look, then runs up and licks your ears.

Careful with some fruits and veggies they can be toxic and can cause death like grapes and kidnys, if you don't already know just do a search
Feeba
31st of October 2009 (Sat), 04:26
I am aware of these but mostly she eats apples, pears, carrots, cabbage, etc. We don't eat much grapes and other ''exotic'' fruits so she can't get them anywhere.
fritz1
31st of October 2009 (Sat), 16:04
Apples, Cherries, Peaches and similar fruit, The seeds of these fruits contain cyanide, which is poisonous to dogs as well as humans. dogs do not know to stop eating at the core and pit and easily ingest them.
Feeba

Feeba, keep the pics coming! Dualbeast, that is one gorgeous GSD.
Here's my snow contribution. ;) This is Marky (also shown in post #350) with his first sister, GemGem, taken in Feb-2006. Marky almost never had this stern look. He was always the big baby. When I saw this pic the first time on my PC, I couldn't believe the look I captured. You'd never imagine he is the same one that ran through the yard crying through his nose about everything. Hehe. This is probably one of a very few shots containing both where they both struck a pose. It's one of my favorite photos of them.

Yep, the little bear-faced man. Sometimes he looked like a lion, too.
I'll dig up some shots of my two girls to post. GemGem never was photogenic. She'd look away or change expression the instant the shutter clicked. Casey posed a lot better.

Shoot, the dog eats better than we do - holistic, organic dog food, free range bully sticks, egg yolks, cottage cheese, yogurt, hamburger, etc.
However, she's 15 months old, still acts like she did at 5 months, and loves dragging sticks all over the backyard. Apparently they are yummy too :)

I haven't checked on this thread for awhile, but I'm glad it's still active. Here's my 10.5-month old GSD Remy, playing catch with a snowball. We got 12 inches of snow a week back, something which doesn't happen in this part of North Carolina very often. Remy absolutely loved it! You'd have thought he was a husky the way he dove into the white stuff. Who knows, maybe we'll get more.

She's a mix but thought Id share anyways since Im new here..... 2 years old in this pic (she is 3.5 now) white shep/husky cross. Started her training with a police force and was kicked out due to a chasing problem, no command would break her of it so she was given to a family who neglected her and she ended up at the humane society. She's been with me for over 2 years now.

I love those Maggie and Pike shots, but I warn you, the jury has not reached a verdict. The fat lady has yet to sing! Never underestimate the dominance of a female! I hope for the sake of male dogs everywhere, this Pike has put his paw down and decided he will be boss, but my money is on Maggie. She's possibly just letting him think he's special. As he gets larger, she may decide he's not so cute and it's time to lay down the law!
