I had to sign up just for this thread, some of the photo's and stories were so touching and I love seeing all these healthy dogs being cared for and treated far better than just a pet.

I've recently lost my dog of close to 13 years (not a german shepherd but nonetheless) and I wish i had some quality photos of her just like the ones you guys are producing.

I'm currently a DSLR n00b but I am ordering a 550d within the week with hopes of being able to take some quality shots like the ones here.

They are comfy
The pups dam is my boys best bud. they are a week a part in age and have grown up together. We are minding the pup and they have bonded so nicely
They sleep like that each night - there is usually a jack russell in the mix too:D

Jager and I went on a 5 day backpacking trip to take in the fall colors in the Lost Creek Wilderness of Colorado. It's a really pretty area with aspens, ponderosa pines, clear creeks and great rock formations. I know!! I had never heard the name Remy, but my wife said that it was the name of the rat in "Ratatoui", and she thought it was cute. I agreed because I couldn't think of anything better (I liked "Worf", but she wouldn't go for it). Anyway, now all of a sudden everyone's dog is named Remy. Even 13 on "House" is really named Remy. What's goin' on here?

More clarity
Sharper, better colour.
I am not unhappy with the 3rd shot, the second one is not sharp enough
I spoke to a camera place that fixes them, and they said it sounds like my lense is not 100% married to the camera body? Does that make sense? So i am getting it looked at next week
I love taking pics of gsd shows, and some of the first photos i posted were taken on my 400D and i was really happy with them, getting the 30D was meant to be a step up and i feel like i have gone backwards. :( I know that some is to do with the operator :lol: but some is the camera, whether it is the lens or the settings with the lens. I have had a few friends that know cameras play with it and their results are no better than mine.
Fingers crossed it is much better after it is seen by the camera people.

Very enjoyable seeing the the new pups, Some Great looking Dogs and Pictures from everyone...

This is our first German Sheppard and he's about all grown up now at 16 months old and 105 Pounds... I posted some pics here back when he was still a pup... His name is Cody, this was taken last weekend here in Ohio by a Small lake within walking distance of the house.

I was just thinking along the same lines.. Shepherds are very photogenic dogs. They just amaze me. :D

Very sorry to hear about Buddy. My Dana is almost 12, and she's showing it, too. It sucks to look into those big, trusting eyes and have to "make the call" that it's time to end the suffering. One of the hardest things to have to do.

We havent given up hope just yet, the vet said it looks like his kidneys and/or liver might be shutting down...or he has an infection...(we are on our 2nd antibiotic) in 1 or both..we finally found something he will actually eat (white rice & diced ham)..so we will see. We just put his buddy down a couple of months ago..(long haired Chihuahua-16 years old)...

That could also be playing a part in the weight loss (especially if they were close) now that he is an only dog. Sorry to hear about your loss and your current challenges. :cry:

When we lost our GSD (14YO) a year and a half ago, our other dog (now 10 YO) was certainly depressed and we noticed an change in her after and then several months later when we got Tucker the positive turn back.

it funny we had a 4 year old neighbor over throwing the balls for the dogs and Ava being nearly 8months old it very smart she grabs the ball out running our Lab - Crystal and then plays keep away. Crystal will chase her in circles for a good 5-10 minutes trying to catch her. Finally Crystal get tired of it and finds another ball to retrieve hence this picture.

Funny thing, it was 2 months to the day we put down his buddy (long haired Chihuahua)..his kidneys & liver were failing and 2 different powerful antibiotics did nothing..my wife and I were wondering if he didnt have it for a while but because of the competition between the 2 he still ate & drank...once we put down the Chihuahua he went down hill fast...losing close to 40 pounds in 2 months...
got to the point he couldnt get up on his own if he was on the hardwood floor..and had not eaten in 3 days...it was time & he was ready to be rid the pain...

+1!! What you have to watch out for is that your GSD doesn't turn to the Dark Side. My first shepherd was exceptionally intelligent, but he only used his smarts to figure out new and inventive ways to get into the clothes hamper and steal my underware. Never could bring him back to the side of Good.
