View Full Version : Pekka- How About LS for D60 RAWS?

Hi gang-
I've had a post up on several (4) boards for 4 days now; no responses.

I am wondering, (as I'm sure many of us who own D60s are wondering), when will there be a PS action (free, or otherwise) available for our cameras?

I'm loving shooting D60 RAWS (36MB at 16bit, 18MB at 8bit-yippee!), but none of the current actions can handle the new files.

I would just like to know from the resident guru (Pekka), when we might see an offering; anyone else?

Sorry for delay, I've been very busy....

Can you send me one example, please? Mail me a (crop) of 16-bit linear TIFF of some colorful (with people) photo.

I don't have a D60. I would need a Kodak Q-60 color target photo (Custom WB with kodak gray card) in RAW format, or as linear TIFF (16-bit) + Canon 8 bit to evaluate if LinearSharpen can be converted for D60. I'm already working on 1D version.

Pekka,
What application do you use to generate custom ICC profile? I was playing with Monaco 2.1 but the results are not good.
BTW: I could provide you with shoots of Monaco Targets and their respective ASCII files.

Hi-
Could you tell me where to send it? About how much of the original would you need? (16bit linear tiffs from the D60 are 36MB!).

Are you referring to MonacoEzcolor? If you are where did you get v2.1? I have v2.0 and there isn't an update on their site. ???

You could e.g. combine 4 nice photos, and reduce the size to something like 20% Or one original in 25% size. Anything goes. If you have a Q60 photo, then it could be resized, but not cropped.

You can mail to pekka@photography-on-the.net

Thank you for the URL. Strange they don't have it listed on their site . Big file but I managed to download it.:) :)

Hi-
From your last post, I'm a bit unclear on what you would like. When you say reduced, do you mean a RAW file, software interpolated down to about 25% (4MB)?

If so, I can do that, and will. If you mean something else, please clarify.

Thanks Pekka-

Hi Gary,

Is the D60 RAW decoder available freely? If so, then simply the original RAW file (and .THM or whatever comes with it) would be best.

If RAW is not possible, then a Linear 16-bit TIFF's. These could be resized to 25% (I'm only interested in colors, not pixels)

Original RAW of Kodak Q60 would help most - taken with Gray Scale WB in even lighting. Photos with people, nature, common items (logos, packaging etc.) are helpful, too, but Q60 is what really would make it happen.

Thanks!

If I am importing D60 RAW images using the Photoshop plug-in (and not importing as linear), it simply opens up. Unlike the D30 software it doesn't go through the dialogue box option of asking me how I want it to open. ie: 1. - unmanaged, 2 - my color space or 3 - an options slot for assigning a stored profile.

My question is, is the D60 image that appears in PS the RAW untagged file with the color numbers unchanged? If they are do I then accomplish the same by going to Image>Mode>Assign Profile and apply the profile I want as I did with the previous D30 software?

I hope this isn't too confusing.

it will not ask if you are importing through the TWAIN driver, it will however if you open previously saved TIFFs.
