Concerned re new 70-200L 2.8

Hi all,

I'm a little :? possibly worried by the new (to me) 70-200L 2.8 I've just bought through E-Bay UK.

My only concern is the colour of the body. I haven't actually seen one of these lenses close up but various pictures show the body to be white. Well the one in font of me right now, in daylight, is more 'cream' coloured.

The seller stated that he bought the lens new in the States back in 1999, only used it half a dozen times over the next 12 months then reboxed it and kept it in a cupboard since then. It is boxed, with its leaflet, case, hood, and front and rear caps. Its condition is 'as new'.

Is this 'cream' colour correct? Have Canon changed the body colour since 1999? For info the letters and numbers on the camera mount ring are - 'UN0311' which I know determine the month and year of manufacture but as to how I don't know!

Is it genuine or am I :x ?

Help/opinions would be gratefully received.

Most of the older L's I've seen were indeed a cream/off white colour.

They are bright white with gold lettering. Better send that to me for further investigation. :lol:

My brand spanking new one is "cream" too,. thank god,.the "off white is loud enough,. I would just die if ti was a stark "ceiling" white! :lol:

The first 'L' lens I bought was a used 400 f/5.6L, and I was also surprised at the 'cream' color.

I still think you need to send all the Cream colored Canon lenses to me for inspection and authentisity. And if you happen to have one of the fakes with the red ring around them please forward them at once.

I will send you a good 50 f/1.8 prime for the mix up. :P
