My wife as most girls do wants something small so i'm gonna get her the S400. This camera is not cheap, and i already own a G2, which i love very much. Should i try to sell the G2 and put the proceeds toward the S400 or keep both? What is your opinion? TIA.

No way. If money allows definitely keep both. G2 is a lot more flexible. Shoot with S400 is not as enjoyable as G2 on a photograher's point of view. If money is tight.. try get a cheaper one for her  like SD100 maybe?

The S400 is a completely automatic camera. You can't adjust the aperture, shutter, focus mode etc. If you never use the manual controls on your G2, then go ahead with the S400. But if you are interested in doing anything creative, or want to add convertor lens and external flash, you must keep the G2.

I'm eventually going to get a DSLR, but I won't get rid of my G2. I love it. I'll never let it leave me, and if it does, it will only be because it's dead

Good points. I'll highly consider keeping the G2. Thanks.

Hi!
Keep the G2! There are many things I love about it, and although I don't use it as my primary camera, it is still a great DC.
