I am shooting with D30, and the EOS 3 and suddenly my 550EX isn't synching up...
Any ideas? or am I going to have to send it to Canon?
Oh yeah, also, if I jiggle the flash while its on the hotshoe,... sometimes the flash will fire ... weird.

(1) Please state how you are attaching the flash to the camera.
(2) Please state the mode on the camera.
(3) Please state the shutter speed on the camera.
then,
(4) Please state the mode on the flash.
Those four answers can get the solution started.
You stated that the 550EX was not synching up. What was it doing? Does it appear to flash, but then you analyze the image and it is wrong? Describe what you see in a typical image.
For example, is half of the image illuminated, and half is not?

1) attatched directly on the hotshoe
2) Camera mode set on P,... or M f4.5 at 60
3) I tried it at 1/60, 1/15, 1/4
4) Flash set to ETTL
It appears to flash, but the image is not getting ANY of the light.

Camera shutter is about to break.

It's a shutter problem?
Why does the flash fire when jiggling it on the hotshoe?
The camera operates completely normal without the flash.
Would you be able to elaborate on this?
Thanks!

I had this same problem with my D30: flash fires but does not sync with shutter. Diagnose was the shutter was worn out and was replaced. All worked fine after repair.
The other problem, not getting good hot shoe connection, is a separate issue. It is a common D30 problem and can be fixed (for a while) by replacing the hotshoe part. It appears that D30's hotshoe is a bit too loose in tolerances, 10D is better and they have improved its durability again in 1D Mark II.
