I am alone for Christmas so I thought I'd go out and be a little extra creative....

Three shots I took today I really like. All them having differen't meanings when I took them.

Looks like Santa got tangled up in that branch and lost a good hunk out of his beard. lol

Merry Christmas by the way.

Actually it's a plant, I don't remember the name of it, but during the summer it's what causes the white small fluff to blow around in the wind.

Well, merry Christmas to you.

#3 - I think I see what you're trying to accomplish with framing, but to me, the chainlink ends up being a distraction.

#2 - Technically (exposure, dof, etc.) this is a good shot, but the composition doesn't really do anything for me.

#1 - an entirely different story. This is very nice. I like shots that emphasize color and texture, and in this capture, you have accomplished both. The textures and lighting of the leaves and the background is great. The complimentary colors of the leaves and background make this photo work. It is a very nice general-purpose, non-controversial picture you might see framed, matted, and hanging in a doctor's office waiting room. Good job. /Dan

Thanks Canned :-) Merry Christmas to you all as well

Actually the first one is really my favortie shot (picture wise) I loved the details.

For the second I was impressed with the dof, and how far I have improved

the third photo is an artistic expression, and the fence is actually a main part of that photo...it's supposed to make you feel like you are imprisoned. It does have a deep and sowmehat controversial meaning behind it. I call it Peril of Power, because of how power of all kind devides and in some cases hurts us.

so it's not in reference to a specific type of power...

There's no doubt that the first one wins the prize. Love the colour and composition.

The second one is interesting. I thought it might be the fibre from a Kapok Tree but I think those only grow in warmer climates.

With regard to the third, it's hard to make wire mesh look interesting (since it often keeps us photographers away from what we want to shoot :-D ), so sorry, can't say I like that one. But don't be put off...keep shooting.

(Happy Christmas)

I actually like the 3rd picture. The only thing I would do is crop it just above that bottom rock that is kinda white. When I scoll the page so I cant see that part I like it. I feel like I am actually looking through the fence. Just my opinion.

I like the light on #1, the bokeh on #2, and I'm not real excited about #3.

I was with about 100 different screaming kids for my Christmas. Consider yourself lucky.
