Thank you all for your thoughts. They are all appreciated.
The photo was taken with a 10D and 100-400L IS with a Canon 2x II teleconverter/extender. The gator was sunning himself, he seemed to be enjoying a warm day in February.
I want to thank Cyberdyne for his thoughts of using a filter with the 100-400 lens. I was getting terrible results from that combination, then I read the thread dealing with that subject. Since then my photos clarity have improved tremendously.
I want to also let eveyone know that I think this is the best forum I have ever seen, bar none. I've learned a lot from reading all the wonderful comments.

hey CDS, what did you use to extract the exif data of the shot?
I've got an app that was bundled with the camera install software, however I use a card reader instead of the software so am not sure if I lose it by transferring that way....

Maybe next time you can ask him (her?) to open his eyes! :D
Where was this taken?
Nice photo.

I thought his/her eyes were open! Not sure though. The picture was taken on 2/17/04 at Brazos Bend State Park. It was a warm sunny day and the alligators were loving it. We saw 4 gators and 1 crawfish eating River Otter.
