Christmas Dogs!

So tonight the family got together, the dogs included, and exchanged gifts. I had my Rebel XTi handy and snapped off these pictures of my pups. The black one is a mut, we named her Sproket (we got her at a motocross track) and the other is Cali. I'm not sure why, but i love the picture of Sproket, so I thought Id share and try to get some comments and feedback, so please do so. Remember, Im pretty new to this stuff, only having my camera for a month, so please just constructive critisism and polite comments.

Good job. I know firsthand how difficult it is to capture the features of a black dog...yours turned out really well.

The only suggestion I would have on the first picture is to try to get the front paws completely in the picture. This is one thing I'm always fighting myself, but I think the picture looks more "complete" when the paws are not cut off.

The second is very cute, but the background is somewhat distracting.
