Very soft pictures

Hi all,
I picked up a Tamron 28-300 XR recently for my 10D.
I shot quite a bit of pictures but most of them ended up being very soft.
I acquired this lens because of its portability. But would u think its the lens that made the large degradation? Has anyone tried this lens?

maybe you are so Used to your L series glass

post up a few samples lets see how soft this lens is.
