What filters do you use. If Hoya, which one, they make several
UV Multi coated $29.00, UV Glass $12.00

I only use B+W filters. More expensive, but worth the money IMHO.

Canon. They make the glass. I'm sure they can make a filter. ;)

Polarizer
Protection filter (which of course doesn't do anything)
Thinking of getting a grad ND filter and an IR filter.

I have two hoya-filters. a 58mm UV and a 58mm CPL (both for my 50mm). I also got a Canon 77mm UV for my 70-200. My next filter will be a 77mm CPL also for the 70-200. After that I'm really considering one of those "star-filters".. Don't know what they're name was, but saw some shots taken of different lights (sunrises mostly) with them. They create a star-effect of the light, and if used right, it looked really cool :) But that'll be a "mostly for fun" filter, so I can't positively say I'll buy one until I've found out what they cost

I use B+W - UVs plus circular polarizers.
Personally, I think that either a UV or a skylight are okay, but pick one and use it across the board. You may notice a slight color shift if you mix them on different lenses.
As far as brand - Hoya is a good brand, just consider the lens you're putting it on. If its an 'L' lens, you may want to consider an HMC or other high quality filter.
I like the B+Ws, and I can afford them, so that's where I go. I stay away from the slim polarizers because they are unnecessary with the crop factor, and I don't want to deal with a second type of lens cap (they give you a plastic slip-over cap because the slims don't have threads on the front).

I found this place http://shop.vendio.com/ect/category/5/ on fleabay. The owner, Freeman, always answers his email and the last time I ordered I had the filters within 5 days. Decent prices and if he doesn't have what you're looking for ask him he can get it

I switched from Hoya to B+W UV filters on all my lenses and use a Moose polarized circular (great filter, I love it) when needed. Bought my B+W UVs at the place listed in last post. Great price and they got to my door in Baltimore quickly! :) Not sure how much of a difference it will make yet since I just installed them, but it can't be worse!

I recently got a Hoya S-HMC UV filter and a Moose's Warm CPL (also made by Hoya) for my new 70-200 2.8 IS. I've been happy with both (I don't double them) and haven't noticed any front/back focussing problems with the Hoya on the L lens that others (CDS?) have reported. Note that Hoya makes quite a few different UV filters. I'm using the Super Multi Coated (but not the 'Pro1' version).
Cost new ...
77mm UV S-HMC: ~$65 Wholesale (B&H), ~$30 eBay
77mm Moose's Warm CPL: ~$85 Wholesale (B&H), ~$65 eBay
