View Full Version : Strange problem with my 16-35L

For some reason my 16-35L doesn't mount on my bodies smoothly anymore. It's pretty stiff going on the 1d mkIIn, and must be aligned just right to be mounted on the 1D otherwise it ain't gettin' on. And when it's properly aligned, it's still tough to twist it on. I checked out the mounting point on the lens and it doesn't look like there's anything that would prevent it from mounting smoothly. All my other lense mount without a hitch. Wierd.

Anyways, this will be my last post for a while. I'm off to Africa. Toodles!

Can't answer your question about the lens other than say I am not experiencing this kind of problems with my lens and 1D mk IIN or on my 5D.

Are you going to Africa on work or holiday?

Holiday. ;)

The lens mounted just fine for me for well over a year now, so I don't know what the deal is. Anyway, Bye!

I've got the same problem with my 70-200, then again, it did take a spill out of the back of my lowpro case.

Lord_Malone,

I had the same problem with my dRebel XT and my 24-70MM EF L. Last night it got stuck and now I can't get it off the camera. It moves slightly but I don't believe the latch is retracting enough to allow it to unlock. See my thread in the Canon EOS Section of POTN.

Anyhow, tomorrow I plan to call Canon and ship it to them for repair. The camera is still under warrenty. I do not know if this is a lens or camera body issue? All my other lenses seemed to work just fine on the XT?

Thank god for two camera bodies...I used the XT and the (firmly stuck) 24-70MM EF L and the 30D with the 17-55 EF-S IS to shoot Christmas today :-)

Here is my sad tale from the EOS FOrum Section: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=254523

Good luck with your issue and do be careful or you may end up like me?

Lord,
I hope your lens does not give you any trouble in Africa. I appreciate your hard work in the 50L thread. Be safe on your trip and take lots of pics!

Murphy strikes again! Bummer; I hope you've decided which body to make the permanent (until return) 16-35 carrier.
