I just ordered an S30, and I'm wondering what small cases people have bought that do or do not fit the camera well? I've looked at cases by Tamrac, Samsonite, Targus, Case Logic, and Lowepro, but I obviously don't need to buy a case until the camera gets to me.

Currently, I'm leaning towards a Lowepro D-Res 120 or 25AW. I need a bit of extra room to hold my mp3 player (a NEX II) and foldup headphones.

Any thoughts on what fits?

Thanks,

Rustle

I would go with the case made for it. You can get them at Ritz Camera stores, or from USA.canon.com.

its good leather, but no extra pockets for batt or cf cards.

Yeah, I ended up doing that. The guy I bought the camera from gave me a good deal on the PSC30 case (US$10), so it seemed a better option. I can always get a larger case later if I need it.

I purchased a Lowepro Z10 for my Leica binoculars and lo and behold, it is the perfect size for the S30. I bought another for the camera. You can try the camera in the case at Best Buys. They generally stock it. By the way - it's 10 bucks

My advice is DO NOT buy a case that advertises the fact that what is inside is an expensive camera. That's like putting a sign up to a villain saying: "look here I have an expensive camera worth hundreds of $'s or £'s why not snatch it!"

I bought the Tamarac Digital Series. It has lots of extra padding and a place for the cards and batteries. The canon bags were not as sturdy and in my opinon not as safe for the camera. It also has a duel locking system with velcro and a snap to make it immposible to steal. I also doubt that you would be able to pull it off the strap because of its rugged design. No it is not really snazzy to look at but that is it's only drawback..hope this helps

Same here. Perfect fit, good padding and just enough room in the front pouch for a 2nd battery and memory card.
