Would somebody mind using cancount or something to tell how many actuations are on my 1D?

probably won't work that way, you need to email the image.

I'll be honest, I have it on my desktop but its in another room and I'm really comfy on my laptop. If no one gets it for you soon, email a RAW image to me.

If anyone is willing, I'd be curious to know how many photos I've taken as well ;)

download an exif viewer, there are lots of good free ones out there that tells you these kinda things.

I tried the opanda one, but couldn't find the shutter portion. I did find that you can change the Camera info with the Pro version, I changed the above picture into a 1DsMKII from a 10D. :)

The frame count isn't stored in EXIF data fror any cameras but the 1D line.

sorry guys, 1 series cameras only. Canon is the only one that can tell you on non 1 series. theres ways to guess based on file numbering if you always format the cards before inserting, but nothing offical

Man, they should put that info in the menu so you can see for yourself when you may need to send the camera in for servicing, as well as make it better for people buying used cameras.

I'll keep using the camera until the shutter gives up and send it in then. All Canon offers on shutter life is a mean time between failure. Your camera may make it to that point, go sailing weell past it, or fail while still a long way from reaching it. It's not like a car with recommended "every 5000 miles". Camera routine maintenance is more like "every year/2 years" for a clean, lube and adjust.

that was a 10D, but I changed it to a 1DsMKII using an Exif Editor just for the heck of it.
I posted before I knew that only 1 series cameras worked with cancount.
