Over the summer I inherited a trio of Medalight PG4001 monolights in which the soldered in flash tubes were burned out. They've been on the back burner of things to fix.
For Christmas I got enough money to buy the tubes, a snoot and sync cords.
I also got a document printer that came with a boat load of office/business software.

Unfortunately it's not surfing or swimming on Hawaii. It's skiing World cup, which normally means about 5 or 6 hours of freezing on snow and wind.
But I promise I will be better next year

I will do. I have been waiting to take some shots, but with 18 people in the house yesterday, who were ALL OVER the place, it was hard to try and take any shots. I will be more than happy to take some sample shots, and write up a review of the diffuser, in the next couple of days.

Didn't ask for any photo stuff, but still got a decent gift from my mother in law. Tamrac Adventure 9, really wanted it when we need to take some food or clothers or whatever with us, as the expedition series has little to no space, though it obviously holds more gear.
It holds the 1d2, 16-35 attached, 70-200, 28-75, and a 550ex. some memory cards and random accessories, but not much else. 17" Fujitsu Lifebook fits, but its tight.

Merry after Christmas to all! So this is also a hello post. Been lurking for a while and figured if I am just posting what I got for Christmas I can't be saying anything wrong or mis-stating much on my first post :-) Anyway I got a memory card holder, a 58mm adapter ring so I can use all my old 52mm (from the A-1 days) cokin stuff with my Rebel and an ND2 Filter.

I got the "understanding exposure" book by peterson and a mini table top tripod and bought myself the 580EX earlier so I could use it straight away when I got to parents house ;-)
I think I should have practised more with the 580EX before going up for chrimbo cause I got some terrible "that is a flashed picture" type shots! I might post some on the Flash Forum to learn :-)

I got a one year membership to a photo club in the next town. This made me very happy since many members of this club are pro's in nature photography; the club is the biggest and most known club in Sweden for their nature photo... The town has about 10000 citizens and the club has over 500 members all over Sweden! I look forward to learning a lot! :)

I have been buying photography stuff for myself all year and claiming it as "my christmas gifts".
But actual gifts from another person.

My XTi was a birthday/Christmas combo, but for Christmas, Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro, Ultra 11 2GB CF, Tiffen Circular Polarizer,Tiffen UV, and the XTi starter kit. I really liked the bag (better than any others I had found...), a UV filter for each lens is good to have, and you can never have to many batteries hehe; and like 2 different photography books. One on Equine Photography. I also got a 400GB Mybook hardrive as a early present to myself. Black Friday was a wonderful day for me this year. Mwaha.
