View Full Version : Another newbie problem

I've got the gallery working from home. I'm away for a bit and I'm trying to update a couple photos remotely for the first time and the photos aren't resizing. Of course I don't have access to all my notes and links either, so here I'm stuck again.
If I go into the resize methods and preview them, everything looks good with the sample photo. The site is on an isp server (not my home system) so I thought that I'd be good to post from the road.
The gallery can be found at http://www.digitalnj.com/gallery/ and the problem with the newest thumb should be obvious (it's huge). I thought it might be a caching problem, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I see that I've got some ee version updating to do, but it worked last week...any suggestions?

You can recreate thumbnails with Rethumbnailer editor.
Check that you have resizemethod selected in path editor, for both thumbs and microthumbs.
What graphics engine do you use for resizing? I'm just wondering how this happened because I did code to ensure that you get no image when there is error in resize system.
Does this problem happen with certain photos, or with all? It seems that you have uploaded some ok haven't you?`
See http://www.photography-on-the.net/ee/beta/ for updates and fixes.

I'm using Imagemagick for the resizing. It was working fine. The "test" photo resizes fine when I try that route.
The seven or eight photos that are posted in the gallery that have the correct thumbs where successfully posted from home. I have not successfully posted anything from the road.
I just tried to post a second photo and it failed in the same manner. This one was from a scanner, so the only similarity between the two files are Photoshop 7.
I see that the upload to server page defaults to 2 files, I uploaded only one at a time, where as the rest were done in larger mulitples. Could this be a problem?
Where do I find the "Rethumbnailer editor"? Is it in the web interface somewhere?
Thanks,
Barnsie

Ok, then it's only a setting problem.

If EE has been on the same server all the time, it makes no difference from where you access it.

No. That upload for only sends photos to upload folder. There is no resize happening on that stage.

You have to update your 1.5 beta 4 to beta 5 or RC2 version to see that editor. Manyt bugs are fixed in later versions. If you private message (PM) me on this forum the address to your input folder and ftp info (do not post it in public) I can do this for you tomorrow, and see that all works.

It's really nice of you to offer to help. I'll be bored at the hotel later, and I'll probably Citrix back home and update ee to the rc from there. If I don't make any progress, I'll drop you a pm. I truly stunned that you'd make the offer, I'm certain you've got much more productive things to do than fumbling around with the likes of me. ;-)
It has been on the same server the whole time. I haven't messed with anything but the header/footer info in between posting attempts. Sort of strange, but I'll see what I can figure out...
Thanks again,

Oh well; I've seemed to butcher things up pretty well. I've actually wiped out everything and I'll probably wait until the full install (or when I get home in a couple weeks) to start over. It just takes too long to access my system from here.
Thanks for the help...
