Question about S40 and S80 batteries

I was just told that the batteries from the S40 and S80 cameras are exactly the same as the batteries for the XTi and will work in that camera.
Could that be true??
I can see a reall disastor if it is not and someone tries to use them in that camera.
Anyone know for sure?

It's true - they do accept the same batteries. Canon makes different model batteries slightly different shapes so only compatible batteries can be used in any given camera.
