I need something at a very elem-entry level that can use to fully understand how to use my new L-358. Something with some simple exercises to start out with. Anyone have any suggestions on the fastest way to get up to speed? Thanks

Texbow - Smartshooter (www.Smartshooter.com) has a free video on using the Sekonics. I have just bought the L358 and found it useful. Register for free on the site to gain access. Look for the "Free video" headline about halfway down on the first page.

Secondly, go to Chuck Gardener's site to "Stuff" and then "Lighting ratios and Incident metering demystified". He also includes setting the Sekonic's dip switches in the battery compartment. There are other good articles on the site including calibrating the meter to your camera should you need to do so.
Have fun!!

You guys are in luck. When the video was up I opted to download rather than just view it because I was anticipating this would happen. I've placed the video into a page on my site. I'm not sure if I'l leave it there but for not it's there.

Check it out:

I'm not sure what the point of this is. Why did you repost a direct link to the actual file. Most people are just going to see gibberrish or have to download the file when they click that link. I placed it into an HTML page so everyone could load and view it. If you would like to present it another way, be my guest.

If you are just trying to let others know that you did not like or find the video useful then fine but many asked for it and it was no longer available at the original site so I posted a copy of it.

I reposted the direct link for a few reasons.

1.) Provided the MIME type is set correctly on the server the file is located on (and it is), it won't show gibberish, it will provide the client of a standard windows machine with an open/download prompt.

2.) Many people don't know how to go about finding the direct link so that they can save the file to their hard drive just like you did.

3.) Embedded mp4 by default plays with quicktime. Quicktime is a terrible player, so by saving the video many people could play it with another player like VLC.

I did in fact find the video helpful and thank you for re-hosting it, but by embedding the video in a webpage it means people have to be online and go to your site to re-view the video any time they have a question about it. If they right click -> save as they can view it as many times as they want with or without an internet connection.

Ultimately, I did it for the same reasons you saved it to your hard drive the first time instead of viewing it on their website. You know this, you just have a control complex, you want people viewing on your website so you're in control of it.
