Took a quick run up to the mountain this morning to see if the warmer temps have brought out the deer.
There she was just laying there chewing her cud when it dawned on me that she was not pointing the south end at me.
Had to take the shot just to prove to Thos (one of the many Toms) that not all of my shots are bass-ackwards

She's not chewing her cud! I'll be damned, that looks like a Little Debbie wrapper by her side.
Seriously now, congrats. I'm glad you finally learned which end of the lens to attach to the camera.

One day I'm going to get a shot of a deer standing up/facing me/with 4 legs showing/both eyes open and I'm going to blow it up to 21x30 and send everyone a copy....

Young doe whitetail.
I certainly don't dispute that, but how can you tell without seeing that end of the deer? Or, do you simply know that is the only kind of deer in your area?

Bob,
All we have here are WT's.
Out west there are muleys and blacktails but here in Quebec whitetails are king/queen.

The deer has no legs. I trust that you're sending them to me for my new tripod...

That's a nice shot.
As for your dream of getting the perfect deer picture, let me share with you the secret to attracting deer to the roadside.
Ride a motorcycle.

I believe he just pulled up, but that package doesn't look like legs. Are they extendable?

Heh Heh! Very good, though small sedans seem to attract them as well.

Actually, I was waiting for him to show up with my 50 mm lens last Thursday, since I was headed to Florida very early Friday morning to shoot my sister's wedding. I happened to be fondling the 10D when he drove by, so I waited for him to come back up the hill to get my shot.

Tom,
Had to fold them to make them fit in the only box I had.
Now on to more serious stuff........it ain't fair :!: :!: :!:
Where in the hell is the snow in the photo :?:
Last week I had 3 feet of the stuff on the front lawn, now have 4 feet.
And the delivery guy is wearing a summer jacket :!:
When my UPS guy rings the doorbell he stands there looking like Nanuck of the North.
I guess I must have pulled the legs off of spiders in my former life and living in Quebec is my punishment in this life
Damn, Thos better adopt me real quick.

Tera,
I find that if I lay in a roadside ditch and make noises like a wounded carrot the deer come flocking to me. However all I get for pictures are deer nostrils.

It is apparent that the only way you can get the deer to hold still long enough to take a picture is to pick the ones without legs Would that be venison on the installment plan?

You notice that he's keeping the deer on ice. :)

Actually this was taken outside a taxidermists home and come to think of it, there was not a lot of movement from the subject. I wonder.........
It is a strange sight indeed to see all these legless deer zipping around using skateboards for propulsion. The fun part is watching them go downhill........
