Why is everyone cropping wierdly in this forum? LOL
My first comment is....crop as a 4x6"

First shot doesn't grab me, too much of one of those candids you do with your friends when nobody is around to take your shot and you dont have a tripod so you cant set up time release. Plus the lounge behind is too colourful and distracting.

Second not too bad, B&W is better, lightings a bit dramatic...not bad...

The 1st one does nothing for me ... centered and totally static. I like image #2 ... a good use of split "hachet" lighting ! It has lots of impact with the expression coupled with the lighting.

I applaud you on posting images in ideal format 8" X 10" and in this case 10" X 8" !!! I see way too many images posted in the format that 35mm and digitals produce and they look way too elongated. Your size looks great.

Thanks for the comments.
I crop all my images to 8"x10" unless i am specifically am printing 4"x6". I prefer the 8x10 ratio over others.

The second image is excellent - the lighting and the expression are very dramatic. I like it a lot.

Great Shots! My favorite is number 2.... However, I love the colors in 1.

Secondly, did you use Photoshop on #2??

I use photoshop for all my pictures. All i did to the 2nd one was channel mixer to convert to b&w, adjust levels, and use shadow/highlight to add some contrast.
