Yeap, very lovely sunrise indeed, beautyfull colours and shapes.
The problem is though, that to wake up and capture the sunrise and then try to transfer what you see at that specific place takes alot more than pointing the camera at the sky and shoot.
If you could from the day before, find a good spot for your picture, with a nice fg subject to complement your area, that would then be the ultimate sunrise and would be welcomed with a huge WOW.
Spend some time around here and keep checking other peoples posts on how to compose for a good picture, you`ll learn alot.
I hope i`m being of help, welcome to the forum.:)

i like both of them, the colors are great. Maybe try cropping out the little bit of railing on the bottom of the first image?

Stunning sky colours - I prefer the format of #1 - not so keen on the tight second one.
I have to agree with DV2004 the foreground just needs to have a bit more interest in it.
But a great job for your first sunrise :D

To me the sky is the foreground (so to speak), and these shots both work for me. (look at them upside down.)
Saying that I'm sure you're probably right about a bit of fore'ground' detail to put the icing on the cake. I'm not exactly an expert ;)!
I do agree with the comment about cropping out the railing, definitely.

wow thanks guys,
i was debating over the railing because without it there is nothing in the forground :o, there used to be this cool tree but my jerk-ass neigbors got it cut down to increase thier view
this shot was taken from west cliff drive facing the monteray bay.
thanks again

Very nice capture. Wonderful colors. I like the landscape better than the portrait though and I think I would crop out the railing in the first one.

Not much to complain about there. The bird left of centre helps the composition.
I'd either show more of the fence on the horizontal shot, or crop it out completely. It draws the eye away from that lushious red sky.
Keep posting... you'll always learn something at POTN.
Cousin.

I totally like how you captured the sky here. The clouds are awesome since I am a sucker for clouds. Thanks for sharing!
