Well, since I’ve been member for a few months now, I figure it’s about the time I post some images, right?
Here is something that I’ve done for my SIS in law.
C&C appreciated (beside crop on 2 & 3 :))

I like #3 but the first 2 are technically good but the pose is really unflattering.

I agree that in #1 & 2 the pose is not very flattering. My favorite is #6...so precious..I like it in B&W...Kim

Okay guys I've corrected the links to my host instead of picasa web albums.
Could you please elaborate on unflattering issue?
Thanks for input and cc.

I don't like how her legs are spread open.

I like the composition on the fourth. And the color baby shot.

IMHO, #1,2 & 3 are unflattering. The poses would be better with her standing up, not lying down. The bare belly is good, it's just that you get more curvature with the model standing, with a slight profile. There are other pregnancy photos in this forum, search them and you will see what I mean. The exposure appears to be good, just the pose that is off. # 4 and 5 are the best of the bunch, with # 6 a close second. Congratulations to your SIL. I'm sure she will want you to take more photos!

The upside-down, legs spread shots are a little, hrm... "too close to the process" for me. (i'm a father of three, and i passed out during two deliveries, so i guess i'm a bit of a wimp)

The last b&w is gorgeous though. :)

Thanks people, I get your point... At the moment of shooting it didn't occur to me that it would be unflattering, especially because she felt comfortable with spread legs (9th month of pregnancy). Anyway, good and right tip! :)

Tungsram: I'm father of two, and I was also there when they were delivered, shocking experience anyway, which I tend to forget :)

I guess I'll have to jump in and go against the current. I really like the first two shots and I don't find the pose unflattering at all given the context. IMO, they are very creative and different from the normal maternity shots I've seen. That last pic is also great :)

The poses almost look seductive. A different take on maternity. I like 'em. Precious baby shots.

vladnl,
#6 if fantastic. My wife and i are having a baby in march and we love that concept. What are you using to light the baby.

Thanks,
Again, great pix!

Thanks everyone for the comments,
some things are, I believe, just matter of taste.... Some people like to follow the rules, some of them, like to break them. I for one, like to experiment in both spheres and to try from good to make outstanding, but that can't be outstanding for everyone.
I'll let you know if I succeed making outstanding images :)

azpix: Lighting was farily simple. Small softbox 40x40cm on the strobe 150w, boom directly above the baby, not too far in order to control light fall. I was about 5m from the baby and black backdrop was 2m on the back side.
Hope this helps.

Thanks again everyone, and I wish you all Happy new year.

I like the 2nd one, and don't find it bad taste personally... It's a great belly shot and if SHE liked it then that's what counts :)!

#3 is pretty of her but doesn't show much about the pregnancy.

I really like the B & W shot of the baby as well :)....

*chuckles to self about men an births....

love the naked baby pics. how did you get that shot? no lights, manual mode, bouncing flash off ceiling? Details please...I have a two month old that I've been dying to shoot stuff like this with.

Thanks people, I really appreciate your comments.
I actually thought that I made my technique clear in the post # 17

Here is another attempt ;)
