Help! I'm afraid to remove the viewfinder eyecup from my 30D to put on the EP-EX15 eyepiece extender. There are no instructions in how to force it off. :( I don't want to pry the rubber eyepiece off with a screw driver or the like. Has anybody bought this extender? I don't see why they just didn't make the viewfinder extend out further in the first place so that you don't have to put up with your nose pressing up against the monitor and fogging up everything.

The eye-cup that is there just slides up. Slide the extender down in place of the eye-cup and slide the eye-cup onto the extender. And there you go.

Squeeze the sides of the eyecup and pull it straight up. Then follow KC's post.

Diane,
It's intentionally snug. Just lift it straight up and it will slide up on it's groove.
I would be curious as to how you like the extender.

I like that it keeps my nose off the LCD, but I don't like how small it makes my viewfinder. Made my 5D viewfinder look like a 20D viewfinder. Serves the purpose, though.

I like the looks of it on the camera and I just tested it out in the living room. I had no problem with it. It sure is alot better looking through this viewfinder then the way it was. A good test will be tomorrow outdoors, but so far I feel comfortable with it. :)

I took mine off a while ago. I liked that my face wasn't all over the viewfinder, especially when I was sweaty. It makes the viewfinder dark and small, and I didn't feel like I was able to work as well.

I tried it in the store and really didn't like the size. I would rather deal with the other issues I have with the standard eye piece than with that extender. It's preference so to each his own. I'm still looking for the ideal eye cup, if there is auch a thing. I keep hearing about an Olympus eyecup that works on the Canon cameras, but I'm not sure which eye piece it is and which Canon cameras it will work on.

I also think it makes the eye cup more prone to coming off.
