Seeing as I only do portraits and event photography I have a deficit of lenses for bird photography. However since I've noticed a flourish of robins and squirrels in my garden (we've been offering them food for winter) I've decided to give it a go with my 60mm. This shot was just me experimenting, however tomorrow I will make myself a nice little spot, cover myself with some black cloth (hole for lens) and wait.

The quality is bad because this is a 100% crop, however I will be closer tomorrow :)

Yes. You can see the effect of the dragged shutter.

It was a shame that he got frightened, but on the other hand the short burst of light managed to capture his take off. I presume this is how you bird photographer capture humming birds? Have a number of strobes on their lowest power to get the quick burst of light - and have the exposure too dark for the ambiant light.
