View Full Version : Tripod Suggestion for travel

Evening folks,

Late January, I値l be headed down to Belize to catch some sunny rays, and play in some clean sand. Myself and my companion will be trekking through laden with regular luggage, and in addition to that, scuba gear and of course my photography gear. I値l be using a Pelican 1600 case for the cameras, and a 1650 case for the scuba gear. So as you can see, I知 already racking up on weight charges.

My reason for the post is that one of my objectives of this trip is to get some great sunrise, and sun set pictures. Whilst I have a monopod that I値l have with me, I知 wondering if a small tripod may be best for the evening and morning shots on the beach. I already own a pretty good size tripod and head that is simply to cumbersome to try to travel with.

Do any of you have suggestions on a proper sized tripod and head that is easy to travel with? I値l be using a 30D and at the most a 100-400 so what ever those add up to in weight is what I will have on it. For the most part, I hope to simply stick it in the sand while I sip some nice Belizean beer, or at most stretch out on a pier waiting on opportunities. Other than those instances I will be using my monopod, so hiking with this is not an issue, although I would like to keep that idea in mind as well for future trips into the wilderness settings.

Thanks, :)

Kenny

Ok, badddd Kenny, doing a search discovered a wealth of information. Sudden thought, and too quick to post. Sorry fer that. But still any additional feedback would be greatly appreciated. In the mean time, I値l be going over the hundreds of post which I never would have thought would have existed. Perhaps I have also posted in the wrong thread? Possible that it can be bumped over to accessories?

Yeah, wrong forum to post in. Go to Talk About Photography for this type of thing. "Photo sharing" section is that, just for photos.

I'm taking my manfrotto to Italy and will be getting a strap so I can carry around on my back!I have a light Velbon tripod as well but not gonna bother with taking that!
