hello, i am working on the structure of my photo gallery and i can't figure out how i can add a second "index". For example i have a gallery of my pictures divided in Groups (themes) themselves divided in galleries (one every month). Bu what if i want to put in the same website (and search engine) the photos of my girlfriend which is also a photographer. You know what i mean?
When i create a group with groupchilds, this first group is considered as an ORPHAN because it's not included in the group #1.
In the database, ee_group_to_group entries, half of my groups are in group#1 (they appear on index page) and the other half are in group#15 buit they don't appear.
Help please!

don't try to create a second index... instead, create your base groups in the existing index and add your other groups and photos to them...
for example
INDEX --- eaceti's photos --- group 1
| |
| --- group 2
| |
| --- group 3
|
--- eaceti's girlfriend's photos --- group 1
|
--- group 2
|
--- group 3
does that make it easier?
also check your permissions for each exhibit and group... that is very important, too...

But the problem is that i can't add exhibitions in each group, i would be a 4 generations tree, and i think EE2 is a 3 generations tree only.
for example
INDEX --- eaceti's photos ----------- group 1 --------- exhib1 / exhib 2 / ...
| |
| ------ group 2
| |
| ------ group 3
|
--- eaceti's girlfriend's photos ---------- group 1
|
------ group 2
|
------ group 3
Thanks for your reply :))

According to earlier post from Pekka EE2 should have unlimitted nesting. So you can go as far as you wish.

uh, no... ;) EE2 doesn't have any limitations on groupings, as far as i know... the real "problem" comes in giving the desired access attributes so that groups and exhibits appear in the desired structure... for some, that means that they'll be listed in the INDEX (which all should likely be) and then individual settings would limit them to certain "users" or "viewers"...
as another example, i have a couple of "private" groups... these are listed in the INDEX structure but each group's (and/or exhibit's) viewers are selected to only one or two "users" or "viewers"... thus, when logged in as one of the "users" or "viewers", there is something to see on the INDEX page (the "home" page of the gallery) and then the limitations are based on the exhibit's "who can view me" attributes...
hope that makes sense...
