I do alot of rallying or did (antjacksonrallying.com) I've had a bit of a break after a couple of big accidents. I've managed a few events this year. I'll be back in 2007 thanks to the help of my sponsors, friends and of course parents

That's actually three seperate pictures with no line spacing between them.

Could make one as it's just a matter of canvas sizings and relative positioning which photoshop can store in actions.

It was one of those rare UK late summer days where the light is just right in the early evening. It made a change from the 2005 race where it poured down constantly :rolleyes:

Next morning i woke up after a few hours sleep to find the race under a 3+ hour safety car period due to thick fog. You can't beat the British weather...

Excelent pics, but my opinion is I would think less DOF may make them more interesting as I find my eye wandering to the back ground to see what else is happening.

I know.. wish i had a 50 ISO setting on my 30D.. or a ND filter at the time. i was using off camera "fill" flash and the camera syncs at 1/250. that bumps up the aperature pretty high, i think f8 or f9, on a bright sunny day like it was.

In the first photo I think the people in the background add to the photo.

This was my first time using a dslr (Nikon D50). All three shots are from Wall, NJ, where they held a formula D event.
The first one is my favorite, but I wish the red from the car popped out more. I was taking the picture in fine quality, large size. I think next time I will try to take pictures in RAW format and then post process them.

Yep...first two were at Blackhawk. The thrid was at Sugar River Raceway in Brodhead, WI. Sugar River is a go kart track were they do a little mini-motard racing.

Only quick suggestion is to change to TV mode and dial in about 1/640th to start with and work at getting slower.
1/1600th is a bit fast - Is that last shot moving or on the grid?

Auto, Tv, Av on the dial on top of the camera.
Tv - 1/640th and take some shots and see the difference.

Thanks Geoff... yes that was the Goodwood rally stage. I only stopped there for a few minutes breather on the way up to the top paddock (glad I did though!).

I live in San Francisco Bay Area. That looks to be Infinion Raceway/Sears Point, from your last photo. I have never gone to a Nascar event, but would love to. Do you go to Laguna Seca at all? Did yo go with family/friends? I usually go with freinds, but I am usually off shooting photos through out the day and don't end up hanging out with them. They understand when I come back with my shots and they want copies. Maybe we sould meet up at an event.

Thanks, I think I used the 70-200 for that one. The gentleman in the picture was the track day organizer, and allowed me full access inside the fence. It was a very nice change from the usual awkward, far-off shooting locations.
