My last post until the weekend - still pursuing these little darlings - this paused for a moment on the sharp end of a large bromeliad, before darting off to bring 3 of his close relatives over for lunch on our hibiscus bushes! Unfortunately, I missed that, had to go do the grocery shopping:( This is another shot of the Bahama Woodstar. C&C welcome.

came out a little dark on this end ann. never the less a very nice capture.:D

groceries can be had anytime. ya have to schedule your errands around the hummers.:D :D

most active early morning and late evening. i have had the first hit when it was barely light and leave during same light in the evening.

a hummer"s metabolim shuts down while he sleeps, to virtually nothing, as if it didn't, he would starve to death while he slept. therefore, he is ready to go eat again at first light. he also has to pack it away right before dark and sleeptime.

a hummer will burn approx 30,000(that's right thousand) calories a day so hje rests evry little. on the othetr hand his system can only take in just so much before hew must digest.

you can get cheap feeders and supplement with mixing plain white sugar 1 cup to 4 cups of water. the more you put out the more you will have and the longer they will stay;)

make sure the feeders are scattered as hummers are very agressive and one will stake out claim and drive others off. they can't guard all of them though ;)
