I am always unsure of what I am doing when resizing and cropping a pic in CS 2. Is there a way to see what size photo you are trying to crop and resize at the same time. for instance if want to crop to a 5X7 in one step instead of 2. Also when resizing a photo if I save as is the origonal untouched.

'Save as' leaves the original untouched (if you don't overwrite the original file)

Cropping CS2 should be just one step. On the left open the crop tool. This opens the top task bar. Here you can click on the crop tool icon for CS2 presets, or add your own. Next is width/height, it will display the presets or you can set it to your preference. Next is resolution.
To view your image size click image in the top task bar " Image " , scroll down to image size. This window describes everything about your image size. You can also change the image size in this window.
Saving "as is" does not effect the original file. If you are worried about your original, then do Image/Duplicate. Close the original and work on the duplicate. Hope this helps.
