I was reading northlight-images.co.uk and saw that they posted up a new lens rumor...

- Canon ef 200mm F/2.8 L USM IS -1000Eur
- Canon ef 400mm F/4 L USM IS -1400 Eur
- canon ef 10-24 F/2.8 L USM - 1200Eur
- Canon ef 24-70 F/2.8 L USM IS - 1000Eur
- Canon ef 100-400 F/4 L USM IS(3) -1200Eur

I was wondering what everyone thinks of this rumor. The 10-24 would be an interesting and would hurt the 16-35mm market which I don't understand why Canon would come out with this lens since the 16-35mm isn't that old of a lens. The 24-70mm would be a nice upgrade but I don't know how it would do with the 24-105mm close to the same price range. The new 100-400 would be a nice upgrade.

Crap, I'm thinking of buying the current 100-400, that would be a real bummer

Constant f/4 100-400? I don't think so. And at that price?

EF 200 f/2.8L IS sure sounds interesting.

400 f/4? Have they given up on difractive optics?

24-70 IS? Why?

I'd love the 100-400 f/4 L, though I seriously doubt that it would be any cheaper than the present 400 f/4 DO lens. I'd gladly sell my 16-35 for a 10-24/2.8 lens, but again, I doubt the price. I also doubt that there will be a full-frame lens that is this wide. Possible, perhaps, but not very likely.

Really, this set of rumours doesn't seem very realistic, at least not at these price levels.

24-70 IS? Why?For me personally, and I know of many other people as well, the toss-up between the current 24-70 and the 24-105 was the added f/stop vs. IS - with this lens you would get the best of both worlds. I'm drooling over the EF 10-24 2.8 L though :mrgreen::mrgreen:

Can't believe the price... The current one is a bit over €1000 and IS usually adds some €400-600 to the price. I hope this one is real though. Can't wait for a lens like that.

I'd give my right arm for a fast lens with IS. I shoot mainly concerts and my current Sigma EX 28-70 F2.8 is going to be replaced when this baby comes out. The 24-105 F4L IS not fast enough to be used at concerts.

I wouldn't worry about it, the new 100-400L is one of the longest running rumors up there with the Eos-3D. Go buy the lens, use an be happy.
