Weather has been pretty crap recently, therefore not so many photo opportunities.
So I've revisited some raw files from a visit to Skye, and worked a few images that I hadn't processed.

All with a canon 1DS MKII,

1st. With a canon 100-400 L. Larger image here: http://www.lesmclean.co.uk/my%20site/VK0I0032_filteredx.jpg

2nd. Again with a 100-400 L lens. Larger image here:http://www.lesmclean.co.uk/my%20site/VK0I0064_filtered.jpg

Yep

Beautiful Les. I like the tones of #1 with just the lighthouse for stronger colour. #3 has great impact although I wonder whether a smidgeon more on the bottom to move the boat away a bit from the edge might have helped. The ramp to the pier on #4, and especially because of the UWA, gives a great lead-in to the photo.

#3 for me Les, definately. But you have got to love Skye :) nice shots all!

Fabulous photos! - my vote goes for the 2nd, 3rd and last. I think you've used that 17-40 well.

Thanks for posting these Les great pictures. I love spending a time with my camera in Isle Ornsay. It's amazing how the mood changes depending on the weather and really like the effect of the dusting of snow on the mountains.

I'm trying to pick a favorite, but I can't! I love them all.

I like your use for the ND grad in the 3rd, we can still see all the detail inside the boat, AND in the sky! Nice choice of a filter. Did you use this filter in any of the others?

Also, what was your shutter speed on the last? You really pulled off the effect well!

And you didn't process these earlier why?? :)

Seriously though these as always with your images are superb. Skye is my favorite place in the UK and I visit there as often as I can.

Lovin' 2,3,5. Great compositions, exposures, and colors. They're definitely "Lesmac" shots. ;) I can't think of anything I'd change for those. #1 and #4 don't do much for me unfortunately, they're technically good photos but the other ones really blow them away. Good work buddy.

Edit: I take my last sentence back, #1 is growing on me, I'm warming up to all the empty space.

You're telling me, 2 weeks off and still waiting for a sign of the sun. Just grey, grey and more grey.
Nice series of shots, whats that blue stuff in the sky, ops it is the sky, forgot what it looked like.

Skye is one of my favourites also, it's got almost everything a landscape photographer needs :)

The main reason I didn't process the images earlier was that I had similar shots already done, although slightly different light/angle etc.

I just saw these images. Beautiful shots. Very dramatic compositions. My one nitpick would be that the colour of the boat which is similar to the lighthouse looks a little unnatural and jumps out at you too much. Of course it's just my opinion. :)

That's what I like about the shot, but I guess we all appreciate different things....that's what makes life interesting.

Looking again I think I know the location of the first. I took a shot of the same view but the light was naff so I didn't keep it.

Is is right next to a hotel and the island you facing is Ornsay island?

Superb set of shots Les, and to think these were dismissed on your first look through.

Very true, the art of photography is totally subjective. That's what makes it so much fun.

I have lived in Scotland for 41 of my 52 years of life. I've been to Skye about 5 or 6 times. I have never seen the tops of any of the mountains, many of the times the mist was so thick I could hardly drive, and the time I stayed for a whole week .............. it rained every day, all day!

One day I will get some shots there. If they're half as good as these Lesmac 'seconds' I will be blissfully happy! Thanks Les. :)

Those are smashing shots Les. Very inspiring. Is the blue tint on the lighthouse PP or real?

It's real, due to the early morning light :)
