Okay, so I buy a G2. And take some images. And download them. And edit them. And discard the unuseable ones. And now I want to re-number the image files that remain. I could do this manually, but it would take forever. So, any recommendations of a software program which could accomplish this re-numbering task?
Thanks In Advance,
CJ

The freeware IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com) will do it well and quickly.
Just install the program, open it and hit B (for Batch). Choose Rename rather than Convert, set your parameters and hit Start. The new files will go to a directory of your choice -- C:\Temp, by default -- so don't be confused when you don't see them in the directory you're working in.

Hi Howie,
I read a lot ... and then I tend to open the program and double-check what I'm saying before I post. Saves a lot of confusion and other people jumping me for erroneous information. :)

I use a great graphics program called ThumbsPlus for just about everything routine with Photoshop and Fireworks for detail work.
It auto-numbers, renames a single or multiple files, creates thumbnails and allows catalogs and contact sheets to be created and printed.
It also has a Canon CRW filter that allows importing and editing of the RAW files.
I drag and drop the images from Compact Flash reader to ThumbsPlus in a single step, making image transfer quick and easy.
No, it's not freeware, but for its functionality is worth every bit of its cost IMHO.
A time limited trial can be downloaded at:
