Has anyone heard of anything about Canon making their own fisheye for their 1.6x crop bodies? Are there any plans to or even the slightest feeling that there might be one coming out? Thanks

That would be pretty cool.

Tokina currently has a new fisheye zoom out. The Tokina 10-17mm.

seems to be too much of a nitch product, and there are a LOT of lenses i would rather them make. as mentioned there is the new tokina fish zoom which looks really great if you want a crop fish.

i think that there would be a market for it. The Nikon fisheye workd great for the crop sensors, and that sells quite a bit. IMO

A smaller fish eye would be nice but if it were to have the whole circle in the 1.6x sensor it would be EF-s

I would snatch one up in a heartbeat! Is 180 degrees even possible on a crop body though?

pretty sure only 180 length and 170 width is possible on the crop...well that's the case with my tokina anyways.

I think an EF-S fisheye would do pretty well. A fisheye for 1.3x cameras would be a godsend.

well the 15mm does pretty well on a 1.3x. This is my thinking though. More people can opt for a Rebel, 20D, 30D, 1.6x Canon crop body while a 1D (excluding the OG) is not always in budget, that and they already have to compete with the Nikon 10.5mm and the Tokina 10-17mm. Sure, you may think the Nikon doesn't affect Canon that much but in skateboarding/snowboarding I have seen and heard of alot of photographers switching from Canon to Nikon simply for the use of the Nikon fisheye.

starting tomorrow and for the next few days will decide whether canon really cares about their crop body customers.

The Canon EF-S 10-22mm is it.

The Canon EF-S 10-22mm is it.

10-22 is a UWA not fisheye. On a UWA, distortion is controlled, on a fisheye, it is deliberately made worse.
