hi
my dad gave me his old phone a motorala the slim one not foldy type but anyway when i put my orange pay as you go sim card in it turns on and sais enter puk code, why is this... it was orginally used on monthly contract could that be the reason.
help appreciated.

It means that your phone is locked out. This can happen for several reasons like entering your pin incorrectly several times in a row. It might be that the vendor also blocked the phone for some reason.
The PUK code is a 8 digit code you should have received when you got your sim card. The mobile vendor might want you to re-authenticate fearing a stolen mobile.

Are both cards from the same service provider? If not, that's your problem. Service providers have a nasty habit of locking their phones so that you can't use it with any other service providers' cards unless you have the phone unlocked first (and of course, the service provider isn't going to do that for you).

Have you tried all the usual codes? You know 12345678 or 00000000 etc? If it's locked at the moment, you have nothing to lose. Or search Motorola forums as well

yeah you most likely have to unlock your cell phone. can be done for 20 bucks or less (read:free) depending on model.
