View Full Version : Beach Sunrise

I was up early today to catch the sunrise. I shot a few from another location before I noticed the tyre tracks. For some reason they just screamed out at me to include them into the shot. Then the couple you see in the shot walked by and we chatted for a few minutes befoer they continued on. The only thing missing is the pod of dolphins that were in the shore break as I walked down to the beach. Oh well would have needed a longer lens to get them and they only surfaced for a short time.
I had a hard time decieding what to do with the sun in this shot. In the end I included it as there still would have been a very bright patch of sky to the left anyway. Oh, geography lesson time. Just under the clouds on the horizon is Cape Byron, the most eastery point in Australia.
Comments welcome. It seems a little dark now that I look at it here?

Nice shot. Good tones and mood.
I find the composition a little comfusing as my eyes wants to go to the sun as well as follow the tire tracks to the people.

Great shot Greg. As mentioned before, I'm truely a sucker for sunrises and sunsets :)...
I noticed (being new to PP and all) that all my shots look great and decent brightness in PSCS2, but if I open the same photo in any other apps, it looks somewhat darker... not 100% why as yet :|

I love the shot Greg.
I think the tyre tracks give the nice S shaped composition.

Nice 'mood' to this image, and as mentioned, those tracks are an important element.
I'd perhaps crop a touch from the right to make the figures less central, also adjust the contrast/brightness or run a gentle dodge tool along the track ridges to enhance the tracks.

Thanks Les, I like your idea of the crop and I'll give the other PP change a go also.
