Anyone know if all Novatron heads are compatible with all Novatron packs? If not, what do you look for. I'm thinking old pack, new heads.

All Novatron flash heads that have five pin cords will fit and work fine on any Novatron pack. Newer Novatron flash heads that have 6 pin cords will only fit (without an adapter) newer power packs that have 6 pin receptacles.
Novatron sells inexpensive 6 to 5 pin adapters to use newer flash heads with 6 pin cords on older packs with 5 pin receptacles.
Please note there may be power handling issues. Older Novatron flash heads will only accomidate a maximum of 500 W-s of power. Most newer flash heads will accomidate 1000 W-s of power. There are a few special purpose heads that will accomidate more than 1000 W-s of power (they typically have built in fans).
The older heads that accomidate only 500 W-s of power have model numbers such as 20XX (or do not have a marked model number). The newer heads that will accomidate 1000 W-s of power have model numbers like 21XX.
Also remember that you can use multiple flash heads to accomidate the maximin power capacity of the power pack.
One other issue, if you are using only one Novatron flash head on a power pack, the power reduction switch on the flash head itself (if it has one), must b e set to full power. Note this is not reffering to the power reduction switch on the power pack, but the one on the flash head (if it has one).
Enjoy! Lon

Thanks! This is exactly what I needed. I knew about most of those issues, but certainly not all. The head I was concerned about is five pin with no markings and no power switch. Guess I'll be playing it safe with this one.

If it has no model markings it is highly likely to be an older head. Assume it is a 500 W-s head.
With 5 pins you can use it on any Novatron power pack; if used under the conditions outlined in my post above.
