Just finished it. I've never made one before so it took a while. Tell me if anyone runs into any snags.
Thanks!

(Right now I'm just using my free 1 month of godaddy hosting, so sometimes an ad pops up saying hosted free by godaddy yada yada. I'm going to upgrade in the next few days to an actual hosting plan.)

I love the site, but the advertisement needs to go. The first link displayed at the top was one for teen porn.
This is the first I've seen this. Does Godaddy host for free if you allow the advertising?
BTW- Great Pictures!!

it worked for you? I haven't been able to get on in like 10 min. I registered my domain there so I get a free month of hosting. But once I get all the bugs worked out, I am upgrading.

If it's not too late, check out www.bluehost.com (http://www.bluehost.com/track/iroshaic/potn). That's who I use and have never had any problems with them. Great service and a great price!

A fix was just suggested by someone on another site, since most people can't view it. It says it can take up to 24hours to take effect. But I'm sure it will be a lot sooner.

I like the site a lot--well organized (read: easy to find what you're looking for) and some examples of your work.
FYI...for FREE ad-free hosting, you might try some of the services over at www.officelive.com (http://www.officelive.com).

Hate the ads...;)
Anyhow, I love it otherwise! The "feel" of the site gives a very professional impression, and the layout is very well planned. Also, the use of Simpleviewer instead of normal html in your galleries improves them a lot. What resolution does Simpleviewer show them in @ your site?
However, I've got a few things I would change, but that's up to you, of course.
I don't quite know about the "News" section, I think that's something that goes better into blogs and personal webpages, but for business, no.
Customers, I think, are more interested in your services, which brings me to my second suggestion...
I would personally hotlink your different services to their own dedicated webpages with examples, information and pricing.
IMO many customers like to see the price to compare with other photographers, and if the price is right, and you've got much information about what is included to the package (for example weddings) combined with a professional looking webpage (which it is) will be successful for business.
I would also extend the "About me" section a bit, as it is now I feel it just "cuts the story off in the middle".
Last point now, I promise...
Contact me could be a bit more "serious".
If I were you I'd cut out all the websites (especially myspace) and include only a telephone number, email and maybe an address. It just somehow doesn't fit into the big image.
Hope I haven't brought you down with my suggestions,

Unfortunately, at least for me, FireFox 2 won't show the site. I still get the same error. Where is www.aophotodesign.com supposed to be redirecting to?

Okay. Now it's working. Very nice design. However, as others have said, get rid of the banner ad at the top of the page. It is causing your main content to fall below the bottom edge of the screen (at least on my 21" widescreen it is).

Yeah I know. It is annoying. I'll probably upgrade tonight.

I like the site. Always liked the simple viewer for some reason. I love the B&W of the firefighters. My women is a 05' grad from Carthage in Graphic Design too. We had a similar site going up here(Central WI), but the market really isn't worth it. To many photogs and not enough business. Good luck to ya with the new site.

I just had a chance to browse your site.. aside from the ad, it looks great!
I also agree with one of the comments above about the "News" section - it had me confused at first, as I wasn't sure whether you were referring to your personal news (in which case it's a no-no for a business website), or Photojournalism (the photo of the three firemen also gives that impression).
In any case, SimpleViewer is an excellent little piece of code - I especially appreciate the scrollwheel ability! One small suggestion I'd make is for you to include an html link on the same page that returns the user to your Portfolio (I mean, besides the "Portfolio" link at the top)... Or direct links to your other sections i.e. People/Nature-Other/Commercial/Design. It might help with the general 'flow' of your image gallery.

The news section is kind of a work in progress. I plan on using it for announcing specials and other similar things. I might get rid of it, but at this point, I'm so tired of working on the site that I don't really want to touch anything at the moment.
