What is the main difference between Cannon i950 and i960.
Which one to your opinion is better? Which one is newer? The price is only a $50 dollar difference.

The i960 is newer,. to the best of my knowledge there is no difference other than the styling and the special loading tray for 4X6 paper on the i960.

I think the I960 sells for les than the i950 did? (newer and cheaper,. the standard with Ink jets)

So,. which is $50.00 more?

The i960 has a front panel Direct Print Port which permits printing directly from any PictBridge compatible camera (like the 10D and DRebel).

The i950/i960 specs for the basic function of the printer and print head are similar if not identical. The i960 is a real bargain for the price, and as CDS noted, costs less than the i950. I've noticed that some stores are still trying to unload their stock of i950 units. You might be able to find some bargain prices on any remaining i950 units.

I think even the 960 is, or soon will be, discontinued and replaced by a newer model. They already released the 9900, which is a replacement for the 9100. I have also heard of an 865 that prints on printable CD's.

Why does the 950 cost more then the 960 if the 960 is better?

I think it's just one of those crazy retail things. They want to you to buy the newer one because there might be a larger profit margin on it.

Can't resist putting in a plug for the i960.
I have had mine for 2 months now, and it produces the best results I have seen in any ink-jet printer, including some rather expensive ones.

I was told to expect to use up lots of ink, but so far, in addition to printing a few web pages and some text documents, I have gone through about 25 sheets of 8.5 x 11 photo paper and quite a few 4 x 6 photos without replacing ink.

With most ink jets, when printing photos, you can easily spot the ink patterns on the page. With this printer, you need a magnifying glass to see the dots.

It is certainly not the fastest printer I have used, but I'd gladly trade quality output for speed.

In my opinion, a great printer.
