Here's a link to a gallery of pictures I took today at a baseball game
http://www.pbase.com/perfectpixel/clu_kingsmen
and one of the shots I like:

There's a lot of shots here. Believe it or not these are ~80 of ~400 I shot! That's how much of an amateur I am.
I'd love to trim it to ~25. I'm hoping the team will have me back again for more.
Please let me know what you think. I value your input at this forum.
Cheers!

Very good action shot, nice and big in the frame and shot at the exact right moment.
I just can't get over the fielder's (I think - Im a Brit so baseball is not my thing) left arm. He seems to have no arm below the elbow! I apologise if this guy genuinely has an amputation, but I suspect that it looks that way because it is behind him and he has got 2 gloves in his pocket.
Not a lot you can do, unless you have a similar shot that you could clone a bit more arm from.
I would try a touch more contrast and saturation just to add even more punch

Hi Mark,
I've never heard of a one armed baseball player. You need one hand with a glove on it for fielding the ball and one for throwing. Not to say there may not be a special olympics type of a team with players with all kind of challenges, but as a gneral rule, I've never seen it.
Anyway. maybe that's why I hadn't even noticed that until you mentioned it. My attention was mostly on the ball, the guy sliding in and then the strange way the baseman's leg is bent. I cant remember if he collapsed right after that collision or not.
None of the pix in the gallery are manipulated in PS . Just resized for the web. A lot of them could use some help in cropping and more.
Thanks for the comments.
BTW, they were playing in English weather. might as well have been cricket

Indeed a nice shot, just a pitty you cut off the guys leg. Try the next time to focus on the center of the action, which is just a bit to the right on this photo.

Considering the action happening, don't think he had the luxury of composing.

Try searching for Pete Gray.....He was a great one armed pro ball player...
There was also a Major league pitcher with only one hand...I don't remember his name at the moment though...
:D :D :D

I disagree - the centre of the action is the ball, the sliding and the base, his trailing foot is not that important really.
I am glad that he really has two arms by the way and im sure he is too !!!
If it was raining cricket stops, nobody wants to get wet

Hi all,
you're right I wish I had the legs in.
you're right I didn't have the time to compose.
you're right I'm real glad I got the ball in there.
you're right.....hey! wait a minute you're not the mrs!
Seriously though, who am I kidding, I got lucky! I'm just glad the darn thing is in focus. And really tickled that the ball is there.
I can tell you that I wish the sky would open up and drop a markII in my lap. The 10D's 3frames/sec is just too slow, even for a junior collage team level game. But maybe, it'll force me to get better.
Mark, these guys didn't stop because the drizzle wasn't that bad (at first) and neither did I. I wish I had though, 'cause I'm now all worried about my lens & moisture (see my post the EOS form for a whole lot on that)
