..Are the words I can just hear you all screaming into your monitors.. I stumbled onto this forum a couple weeks ago, and after a hiccup in the registration process, I have been lookin around and learning a lot about DSLRs, lenses, etc.. And I look forward to being an active member of this neat little community!

A little about me, I guess, so no one needs to go to their local authorities with my IP address:

My name is Steve and I live in MN.. Or HELL as I was muttering under my breath whilst diggin my car out of the snow and ice mess we had the night before..

I have been into photography for as long as i can remember, and got my first "Camera" from my father when I was 8 or 9.. It was some Kodak 35mm P&S.. I got my Yashica (In the sig) when I was 13 from a Pawn Shop! Its beginning to show it's age and will be replaced hopefully soon with a 300D..

Anyway, like I said, I enjoy photography very much, and picked up my SD450 in July.. But I also enjoy other things too.. Cars are huge on my list of "funness".. And actually, I like to consider myself and "OEM Modifier"- meaning I enjoy making any addition to a car look as stock as possible.. Also Mobile Computing for some really weird reason.. Painting, writing, and reading round out what I like to do wiht my free time.. SOme of my friends say I should go be a comedian, but I think that takes the spirit out of having fun at other peoples' expense.. (Only kidding of course)..

Anyway, here are some initial shots from my 450.. Need some finishing work to them, but I like them nonetheless.. Any comments are great, and welcome!

Here are some of my car (94 Olds Cutlass Supreme)- Please forgive the grain. After the pics, I basically had to move out in a hurry so no time for finishing work)

Sorry.. Sometimes I go "pic crazy".. Anyway everyone.. I appreciate any comments on the shots you all can offer, (And maybe an easy way to take care of the grain? See y'all out there!

Hi Steve- Welcome to the forum! I'm just down the road in Bloomington. What is this "snow" of which you speak? ;)

BTW, I noticed in your gear list you might be looking for a 300D. I bought a 30D a few months ago and was thinking of selling my 300D. Don't have the kit lens, but do have the 28-135mm IS that could go with it. Let me know if you're interested.

From one Steve to another, WELCOME!

Nice shots you've taken (especially the sunset one) but if I were you, I'd blur out that license #....no need for the internet bad guys to have something like that, no?

Cheers!!

Yea, well when I posted it I had to chisel my doors open, and brush the car off.. BUt later on, I had a nice clean car.. As far as the 300D, what are you looking to get for it? Im not concerned with accessories at this point.. I am hoping to get one from work (Best Buy) for dirt cheap in the same condition you speak of yours.. Let me know via PM! When I get my DSLR, or just in general, we perhaps can meet up and run around town, snapping and having fun?

I used to blur out the plate, but I think I honestly got lazy.. I hate to say it but must admit it..

I was down in Iowa that weekend so all I got to see was rain.

Regarding the 300D, I'll PM you.

Nice light in the 6th shot. Could do without the barriers, though?

I was thinking about the barriers, but that shot, at the time it was taken, sorta had meaning as I was looking around.. Just kinda like I had reached a barrier in my life, and had to turn around..

And you raise a very valid point on the plate.. Any type of loon can come to a parking deck and grab the ol plate of the Oldsmobile of Damnation

Just kinda like I had reached a barrier in my life, and had to turn around.. Like the guy in the Mustang ad who says, "I couldn't find a speed limit over there that I liked?" :D

Kinda like that, though not as whimsical..

Im gonna pick up a sunpak tripod from work (Yes, I wish it were a Bogen.. But with my discount, I can get the "smart kid on the short bus" rendition of the sunpak at the cheap price of 40 bucks) and try out some different exposure settings on the 450, though Ive almost maxed out the possibilities..
