View Full Version : Hawk stopped by today

So I was in my backyard today with my cat when I noticed some movement above me. I looked up to find a hawk landing in a tree over our backyard in the city. I ran inside and grabbed my camera, snapped a picture and then proceeded to follow it as longs as I could as it flew around the neighborhood, snapping pictures as I went. Anyway, onto the pictures. The first three were taken from my back yard after the hawk flew away a bit. The last four are from when I found it again elsewhere in the neighborhood. It's unfortunate about the branches, but I couldn't help it. Also, most of the these are almost 100% crops, as 300mm isn't really enough for a hawk at the top of a tree... Anyhow, what do you all think, red-tailed hawk? I'm in Burlington NC. C&C is welcome.

wow, good on ya to chase the hawk around...
i wonder what he was looking for in your backyard?

Yes, those would have been terrific shots without all the branches! But not bad as is. Not sure it is a red tail, though.

Nice effort to follow it around like that. It paid off. :)

Reed it loks like several of us have been fortunate to have these visitors arrive in our yards over the past few days. I'm glad that it stayed long enough for you to get you camera.
