What do you think - cheap effect or OK?

I find it a little distracting. The tracks should be the focus of the picture, yet out of the corner of my eye I keep seeing a speck of colour drawing me away & I don't know where to look.
That's my humble opinion.

I see what you mean, the tracks lead you in but not to the main subject...
May have to rethink this picture. :)

I like what you've tried though, maybe it would work better if the signal was smaller, more central and further down the strait part of the tracks.

In theory it works but in practice it don't - I think "unstuck" has hit the right chord with suggesting it would be better placed further down the straight track

Back up 50 feet, squat to get closer to the tracks, and make the signal a minor element rather than the focal point. I think the linear perspective could be great from the lower angle.

I can't help thinking what it might look like if you walked further down the tracks, turned around & looked back at it from that angle.
That way the tracks would lead you in & merge near the signal.

Great idea... I'll do that next time I pass that spot! Thanks!
