Hi,

I am fixing to mail in my rebate forms for my 30D and 135MM EF L and I am confused by the following instruction:

"1. Print 2 copies of the bar-coded Internet rebate form (one to mail in nad one for your personal records)."

My question is: What is a "bar-coded Internet rebate form" ??

The form I found on the Internet from Canon is two pages with the 1st page a listing of items that can be rebated and the second is the form for your personal information. I do not see a "bar-code" anywhere.

I do not wish to sound paranoid but I do not want to give Canon any excuse to deny my rebate request.

Could someone please clarify this for me?

Thanks,

I haven't done this fall's rebate yet, but if I remember correctly, when I pre-qualified using the online form, after calculating the rebate amount, the site generated a "summary" form that had the tracking number/bar code on it. This was included in the envelope instead of the printed rebate form. Again, this is all from memory of last spring's procedures.

Are you using the pre-qualification website for your rebate?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did pre-qualify. Canon sent me an email to confirm this. But, I do not recall seeing a bar coded form to print at the Internet site nor was there one in the email they sent to me?

I'll check the Internet pre qualification site tomorrow morning to see if there is a bar code form there...my rebates stuff (UPC codes, etc) are at the office waiting for me to mail.

Again thanks,

After entering the rebate item UPCs and your address details online you should have come to the next screen (the third screen, I think) that gave you the instructions you described to print two copies. On that screen there should have also been a bar code somewhere in the middle of the page with all of your rebate entry information (that you submitted on the previous two web form pages). Print two copies of this sheet and attached one copy as a header page to all the documentation that you are sending in. If you didn't get this the first time just go back to the web site and start over.

I sent a rebate in towards the end of October and just got my check last week. As a suggestion, COPY EVERYTHING you are mailing in and send the rebate in using U.S.P.S. Delivery Confirmation. In so doing you will have proof of delivery in case they posture later that they never received anything from you. Just a thought.

The $430 I received last week from the rebate started burning a whole in my pocket already so I just went out and purchased a new Canon macro lens to start off the new year. :)

Thanks for the response...buying another lens is a great use of your rebate $$ :) You can buy some decent glass for that amount!

Mystry solved :)

I went back and re-entered my UPC information at the Canonn web site for pre-qualifying.

Step #3 is the bar code form they cited...printed out two copies and I am good to go.

Next stop is the Post office to get a return reciept mailing. I also took a photo of each form with the reciept, UPC, and registration cards. I do not plan to give them any excuse to not to give me my refund.

Again, thanks for the help.

Good luck! Even though I received my entire refund I had to challenge them as they wanted to short me. They told me I failed to send in all documentation...I quickly responded they need to look a little harder...and then she found it. I told her I was more than willing to fax in copies of my documentation.

Lessons learned: 1. The rebate takes time so be patient. 2. If you need to call in to check on the status and the CS person you get is not pleasant and cooperative in handling your needs...hang up and call back. Maybe with the next call you will get lucky.

Spend your rebate wisely!!! :D

Jim,

I just noticed you are new to POTN...a hearty welcome :)

I'm going to buy a couple of B+W UV MRC filters with my rebate. Canon "owes" me $250 :-)

We shall see....
