I am new to this forum, but have been lurking for some time now. I am interested in moving to digital photography, and thought the 10D would be a good way to take advantage of the Canon lenses I already own. The problem is, my eyes are not as good as they used to be, so I would probably depend on AF. Each time I think I have made my decision, I find another posting about AF problems with this camera. Any insight you could provide would be appreciated, and might prevent me from wasting my money. There are no 10D's available locally so I have never even had the opportunity to look through the viewfinder.

Some of the very newest 10D production (about one year ago) had some reported problems with focus. Then that seems to have gone away after some months. I would not worry about that now.
For operation, I would say that the best thing to do is to make sure that you know which of the autofocus squares your 10D thinks it is operating with. Initially, it would be good to keep it stuck just on the center square until you understand basic operation. Later, you can decide which mode to operate in.
I wouldn't worry about it. This assumes that your existing EF lenses haven't been beaten up and have their own focus problems.

Any run of products can have a few problem pieces. Buy it, take alot of pictures, if you got a bad one return it or get it calibrated. I returned a defective Nikon D100 and bought the 10D. I've been very happy with it.

I have read so many positive reviews of this camera that I doubt I can go wrong. It most certainly will be an imporvement over my old EOS 630. Browsing this forum has not only been fun, but a real learning experience. Thank you both for your input.
