I frequently use this editor. My galleries have over 30,000 images, so the list of files in "STEP 3: select photos" is rather large and as a result it is hard to navigate the list of photos since the sensitivity of the scroll bar is very high with this many files.
If possible, I would suggest that the list of photos default to the most recent 1,000 photos added to EE as these are the ones that are most likely going to be edited.
