I use a ballhead and tripod when I want something steadier then my hands. Having a rubbberized head defeats the purpose.
Just my 2c.

Ball heads are expensive because of how complex the counterweight system is (so your lens doesnt hit the tripod falling). You can go out and spend 50-75 bux on a really good 3d pan & tilt head that will meet 90% of your needs. I have a 329 RC4 head that works well and you can keep enough tension on the head to move it in any direction with a little help.

I've got it! it was side packed at my manfrotto monopod. but I can say, just forget it! its not usefull. it provides no stability....
