It never ceases to amaze me what stupid people will try to auction, and what even stupider (is that a word?) people will try to buy, on eBay.

You do realize its not for the camera itself, its for the place in line to buy the camera .... which could be legit, certainly the seller can prove that via vendor.

Number 3 in line at what vendor????? Maybe some corner shop, that could be like being number 100 at a major authorized reseller.

Let's just say for the sake of argument that this is a good idea. After all, I'm number 15 on the list at CDW, and I'd be happy to move up.

Only problem I can see is that the retailer doesn't have to sell it to the subsequent buyer. The only way this could be guaranteed to work would be if the first buyer actually went through with the purchase and then turned around and re-sold it to the subsequent buyer. The retailer is only obligated to sell it to the person whose name is on the reservation.

It can handle all of Canon's full line of extensive lenses.

Would someone please tell me what an 'extensive lens' is?

Sheesh

Clearly it wouldn't be prudent lest you got commitment from vendor.

Congrats Thos on taking the plunge

Belmondo nailed it on this one. The original purchaser is the only one a vendor has a contract with in such "reservations to purchase" arrangements in most of the states of the USA. That person may sell hif place in line, but he'll have to be the one to complete the purchase when all is said and done. If I had $4500 to buy a new DSLR body, I certainly wouldn't wager it instead on such a questionable arrangement.

I just said that because I'm having a BAD experience with a Brooklyn dealer and my Digital Rebel.... No offense to the honest people of Brooklyn...

Non-taken :) Just trying to have a little fun.

Broadway Photo is a rip and I feel for you. For me, I deal only with B&H, Delta International, and Adorama.

I'm just hoping your get your gear - from B'way or someone else, soon!

That is crazy! Anyone seriously committed to getting a MKII is already on a list, which they had to pay a good amount to get on....Far more than $50.

Scam.
