I'm living in Canada but planning a holiday trip to Italy in the next few months. Before going, do I need to buy some sort of voltage transformer type of adaptor so I can recharge my G2 batteries (the BP-511) while there?
Thanks In Advance

If you check the recharger unit itself, it should say 120/220V 50/60 cycles. This means that all you need it an plug adapter. (Mine worked fine in Europe last year with just the adapter.)

Ah, indeed, you're quite right George. Thank-you.
Now, where does one get a North American to European plug adapter? And do most European places have the same kind of plug outlet?
Again, thanks in advance,
CJ (who's quite happy this group exists)

Usually any of the travel stores have them. They usually come as a kit, because as you pointed out, not all countries and/or regions have the same type of connectors and sockets.
The following link has a picture of such a kit. I provide it ONLY because it explains in a picture more than words could. I know nothing about the vendor nor product shown, so please check before you purchase anywhere to make sure that you know what you are getting and from whom.

Hi
I wouldn't buy on at an airport or a travel store as they cost a bomb. You can get them at a local electrical outlet pretty cheaply.
I'm using my Canon G2 I picked up while home and just cut off the end and put a UK plug on it.
Works fine.

I bought the one I used in Germany at a electronics store *in* Germany. Cost me 1.28 euro.

I am in the same market, and have found two sites:
traveloasis.com
voltageconverters.com
They provide a lot of info--I am planning to call one of them later this week to decide what I need (the adapter for the camera, but I think i need a converter for other appliances.)
Good luck.
