All,

Since the MKll will be upon us shortly, anyone thinking of buying any new toys?

Don't confuse this with a wish list...This is what you will get to go with your new toy.

I am getting a new backpack that rolls from Lowepro. I also need to get my 180mm macro back. That is all I will be able to buy.

There are a couple people in this forum who've ordered their Mk IIs, and I asked them the same question by email. The only thing they mentioned specifically was an extra battery. Guess I'll do the same thing.

That's the beauty of the EOS system. All my lenses will work (and work better), as will the 550EX flash, the remote switch, and several other bits and pieces.

Actually it occured to me that I don't have a flash...

I rarely use the built in one on the 10D.. and most of my shooting can't include a flash.. but it is something I will need to consider.

Battery of course,. I can't live with just one! :?

Of course we will have all the spiffy EOS 1 focussing screens available to us!

Then of course there will be the CF card dilemna,. larger files on a faster camera..

Will 512 or even 1GB be large enough?

I have a "Muvo2" 4GB on order that I may actually get soime time in Novemebr of 2012

This will give me a 4GB Microdrive for only $200.00

And after spending a year explaining how slow the 10D is with CF cards,..

...and thus only buying affordable "standard" speed cards.. well that is going to bite me in the @$$ with the MkII which will want to devour a steady diet of nothing but the fastest CF cards!

(actually I do have one "30X" 1GB CF card.. )

Only things I can think of are 2 extra batteries. Of course, when the new 28-300 comes out I will "need" that.

I considered a new backpack, but then I realized I didn't need to carry as much as I have been. Maybe the one I have will work (Mini Trekker).

Yeah,

I do need a extra battery or two. I have a lot for my 10D. The CF card department is okay for me I have 8, 5-512 and and 3 1 gig cards. From now on I will only buy the 1 gig's. I have been buying the scandisk ultras so I think the speed will be fine.

I just want my 180mm macro back and I will be fine for a while. I was considering the 70-200 L but I can use my 100-400 L for now. I have a good tripod and monopod so I don't need any of those.

I need the backpack and plan on getting that soon. Dont' want to forget the shutter release, that is a must have. I want to get all I need now because I am tired of spending and need a break.

I will follow the battery line...an extra is a must. Also, the 1D batteries require a little more care than our BP-511's do.

CF will be an issue also, so another 2 Gig will suit me.

I will also be upgrading to 2-550EX and IR transmitter set up. Until now I have really not delved into flash photography as I should have.

That will pretty much kill that Mastercard, so I will stop there.

I remember long, long ago, my old G3 days when I started one of the longest thread every about accessories....Guess we will have to do a new one.

Ah, the memories...I was new to the camera / digital world and I landed here...

I wanted to add the link to the thread but don't remember how to add links to websites.

NiL,

You know, that thread got me started on my G3 buying path. Now I'm over here doing it for my 10D... Next time my wife starts giving me grief about the newest lens or gadget I'll just give her your email address!

Well tell your wife that you are upgrading to the MKll and that I said it is okay. She can call me, email me or even visit. When I am finished with her she will be buying herself a 1Ds.

She won't let you get anymore toys but hey, it is a tradeoff. LOL
